Briton arrested in Mogadishu for allegedly trying to join Alshabab

Tuesday, March 27, 2012 (HOL) - Immigration officials in Mogadishu detained a British national for allegedly trying to join Alshabab.
Somali officials say Dennis Clive was arrested in Mogadishu airport , while trying to join Somalia’s Alqa’ida group.
Talking to the reporters Mr. Clive denied to have links with Alshabab and insisted that he was planning to study Islam.
“I was traveling to Kismayu, my aim is to study Islam” said Clive.
when asked If he had in mind to join Alshabab Mr. Clive laughed.
“I want to study Islam only, I converted to Islam thirty years ago and I love this religion” he said.
Somali immigration officials say he will be in detention until further investigations are carried out.
In January this year 24-year-old former American Army soldier Baxam was arrested from Nairobi on charges that he tried to travel to Somalia and had links with Alshabab.
