Student organization references African famine with "A Dinner for Two in Somalia"

On Friday, April 6 the African Caribbean Culture Club (ACCC) sponsored "A Dinner for Two in Somalia," a program organized to promote awareness of the famine in Somalia.

The free dinner was held at Asa Packer Dining Room and the 50 seats were distributed based on a first come, first serve basis.

The ACCC organized this event in response to the United Nation's official declaration of a famine in East Africa, of which, Somalia was especially subject to as a result of the years of warfare it had endured.

According to the event details on eventbrite.com, "50 to 100,000 people died and over 900,000 people sought refuge in other countries" due to recent events in East Africa. The ACCC hoped to gather money to donate to Action Against Hunger Charity, which, according to the event details, is "directly associated with the country and the famine."
