Namibia thumped Djibouti 4-0 at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium on Tuesday night to complete a comprehensive 8-0 aggregate victory and qualify for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

Two goals by Lazarus Kaimbi and one each by Heini Isaacks and second half substitute Sydney Urikhob completed the rout to put Namibia through to the World Cup qualifiers, where they will compete against Nigeria, Malawi and Kenya in Group F.

After winning the first leg 4-0 in Djibouti City on November 11, Namibia had already secured victory, but this did not stop them from putting on a vintage performance for the 4 000-odd fans who came out to watch them

Namibia dominated possession from the start with Heini Isaacks, Willem Mwedihanga and Bryan Bantam all coming close in the early stages.

Namibia’s pressure told as they won a freekick on 17m when Lazarus Kaimbi was fouled on the edge of the box and Heini Isaacks scored with a superb spot kick that curled around the wall into the right hand corner of the net.

Rudolf Bester broke through Djibouti’s defence on 34m, but when Djibouti’s keeper Loita Youssouf blocked his chipped shot, Bester crossed the rebound to an unmarked Kaimbi who headed home from close range.

Kaimbi was having a great game with his powerful runs down the right wing and just before halftime provided a great cross that rolled past an open goalmouth with no one there to stab the ball home.

Djibouti came out attacking in the second half with Moussa Warsama hitting the post, while Liban Issa came close with a long range effort, but Namibia soon took control again and increased their lead on 58m when Kaimbi ran onto a Ronald Ketjijere pass to slam the ball home from just inside the box.

With Ketjijere, Bryan Bantam, Rudolf Bester and Heini Isaacks controlling the midfield, more chances came Namibia’s way with Bester and Kaimbi shooting wide of the target, while a Willy Stephanus shot hit the post.

Sydney Urikhob sealed Namibia’s victory on 79m when he ran onto a Kaimbi throughball into the box to blast the ball into the left hand corner of the net.
