The President of Puntland State of Somalia, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud (Farole), has met with UK Minister for Africa H.E. Henry Bellingham and DFID Minister for Africa H.E. Stephen O’Brien at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in London, United Kingdom.
President Farole’s delegation arrived from Nairobi on Sunday morning, where they were welcomed at London’s Heathrow International Airport by FCO protocol officers and ushered to the airport’s VIP Lounge.
On Monday, the President was accompanied by the State Minister for International Affairs, Hon. Abdulkadir Abdi Hashi, and Puntland Electoral Commission Chairman Hon. Mohamed Hassan Barre during the meeting with the UK Ministers.
Discussions covered a range of topics, including the Roadmap process and the way forward, humanitarian and development issues, as well as the fight against piracy and terrorism in Somalia.
The Puntland delegation, which also includes Ports Minister Hon. Saeed Mohamed Rage, is scheduled to holds key meetings with British Members of Parliament, UK and EU anti-piracy officials, and development experts. Further, President Farole will deliver the keynote speech at the Combating Piracy Week Conference in London on Thursday.
