KISMAYO (HOL) - Somalia Islamists who control the port city of Kismayo have accused the Kenyan Government of deploying armed forces along its border with Somalia to weaken the Islamist administration in Lower Juba region.

The Islamists argue that the Kenyan government has been training and arming militia forces whose goal is to destabilize southern Somalia regions.

There have been recent unconfirmed reports that troops loyal to the Ogaden
National Liberation Army (ONLF) are present in the border between Somalia
and Kenya and that the ONLF troops want to attack the Juba regions controlled by Islamists. ONLF troops and Islamists have clashed in the past.

Abdigani Mohamed Yuusuf who is the deputy Mayor of Kismaayo warned Kenya to cease its hostile activities against Islamists who control Jubba regions in Southern Somalia. The deputy Mayor added that if Kenya does not stop its hostile intervention into the affairs of Somalia, they will attack bases inside Kenyan territories.

The remarks from the Islamists in southern Somalia have come at a time when there are ongoing clashes between Islamist forces and Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government (TFG) troops.
