Mogadishu – 03-April-2010 – Somali hard-line militias Hizbul Islam banned music from radios in Mogadishu to broadcast and invited Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden to Somalia, a senior leader of the group said on Saturday.
The hard-line group is led by Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys and they are one of the main rebel groups in Mogadishu.
Moallim Hashi Mohamed Farah, a senior leader of Hizbul Islam told the reporters in Mogadishu on Saturday “Our group invites Osama Bin Laden to come to Somalia if he could, and all other Jihadists in the world to come and join our fight against the Somali government and the African Union troops,”
The group also banned Music from local radios in Mogadishu to broadcast “Local radios must stop playing music and songs with in 10 days, we will punish the radio which disobeys the orders.” Farah said.
The group warned the journalists to call the foreign Jihadists coming from outside Somalia as foreigners.
“We know the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) as foreigners, but not the foreign Islamist fighters,” Farah said.
Al-Shabab another rebel group which USA announced as a terrorist faction, already banned from radios in areas under their control in southern Somalia to broadcast music and Songs.
