...May be I shouldn't say, but I believe the SFG is as dodgy as h*ll and it is difficult to trust it manage our resources and I dread to hear about a messy contract and a fishy deal by the government with god knows who.

 secular,

You have a point and none of us is getting younger and it will be nice to see our children/nation benefit from our natural resources and prosper before we leave this world but still I think the government is walking on egg shells so it should tread carefully on signing oil and gas contracts because most of these oil companies are known to be dangerous predators.

 Fiqi,
While I agree with most of your list of grievances, allow me to disagree regarding the "oil rush" business, for the wrong reasons!
Maryooley are bombarded with the promise that ,one day, everyone will become filthy rich , because " kheyraad baa dhulka hoostiisa ceegaaga".
Since life is short and I am not this young, I want to know before departing this world, hopefully to a better life, if it was a hoax or I was sitting on mountain of wealth, while starving!

 Kucadaye,

Good question, why the rush, rush, rush?

We are all asking the same questions but the government is not listening to its people nor has it been true and transparent about its plans that seem to differ on all its promised action plans.

It is hasty on Juba land, on Middle shabeele, on oil and gas contracts, on tampering with the constitution, on meeting with Somaliland at the wrong time for the wrong reasons, on disagreeing with Puntland  just to stretch its power,  on hindering the fight against alshabaab, on siding the wrong groups,  on accusing and badmouthing its neighbours while it depends on their protection, on circumnavigating half of the world to unnecessary meetings and conferences while its backyard is on fire, .....the list goes on and on and on which in the end  will lead to a total failure sadly.

"The Mogadishu government had said in May that it would not sign any oil deals until contradictions within the legal framework were ironed out. It has yet to do this, but the minister said they intended to do so."

The Mogadishu government is putting the cart before the horse.  Why not wait until, as promised, a 'legal framework' governing mangagment of international oil and gas contracts is finalized? Why the rush, rush, rush?
