The man is in his 50s, so he should have known better. Even his employers were present at one point when he chose to play computer games than respecting them. So the report the UN people were passing to each other about him was not really nice. But the funny part is how "butulaan" people and their other tribalists assume themselves to be powerful people. How on earth you can possibly say Somalia National Army will be in Somaliland, when it was badly defeated at the peak of its strength by the SNM,which made was made up of few hundred civilians armed with AK-47s. Now the situation is much different, the Somalia soldiers are government forces during the day time and Al Shabaab militia members during the night time. That is why you have more than 20000 African soldiers guarding you streets and even with all these African soldiers your presidency complex and so called House of Parliament are attacked. Moreover, Puntland has collapsed as an entity, Kismayo is under Kenyan occupation and the rest of Somalia remains lawless and no go zones. However, Somaliland has the military might to takeover the whole of Somalia in just a week, its economy is booming and its democratic institutions are flourishing. Now, tell me, how can you realistically say what you say, when you guys are just chasing your tails. How will Sharmarke ambassadorship will possibly shape your future, when failed to accomplish anything as a selected PM? Somaliland was not a British colony, but a British Protectrate as indicated by its former name and there is big difference between a protectorate and a colony. Somalia for instance was an Italian colony, because it didn't have a signed agreement with the Italians. On the other hand, Somaliland had a binding agreement with British, known as the camel skin agreement. 2. Somaliland didn't escape the civil war , but it was where the civil war in the former Somali Republic began. 3. The author ignored the congratulatory cable president Eisenhower sent to then prime minister Egal of the Republic of Somaliland on the eve of Somaliland independence on June 26, 1960, that was before the independence of Somalia. Besides history, the author is making the mistake of believing the assignment of incompetent ambassador to the USA by the incompetent un democratic government in Mogadishu will some how change the facts on the ground and Sharmarke ambassadorship will all of a sudden bring peace and prosperity to Somalia - that is just a wishful thinking. What I found interesting is the author is talking of the five different Somali regions in the Horn of Africa, something that is Haram (forbidden) in the vocabulary of the Somalia politicians, because if they talk about the five Somali regions people will realise how hypocritical the Somalia regime is, because it claims Somaliland, one of the five regions of inhabited by Somalis is claimed as part of Somalia, when they dare not lie the same claims on the Republic of Djibouti, NFD of Kenya and the Somali region in Ethiopia - I call that a cowardice and they call it patriotism and I leave that for you to judge.     sonofsomalia @ 7/17/2014 3:28 PM EST  How sad, the urge to support your kinsmen leads you to write such garbage of article regurgitating historical nuance.
