Due to irreversible (not anytime soon) global climate change, I doubt very much
Beletwayne and other cities and towns built on banks of seasonal rivers have any
chance in being sustained at their locations. Somalia as the poorest nation in the
world is and will continue to be helpless in dealing yearly terrible floods!
In the Horn of Africa basin, the weather has changed to seasonal Monsoons and even
Hurricanes, unfathomable few decades ago.
Either reroute the rivers away from cities or towns or move cities and towns away from
these rivers--the former is a lot cheaper, but still costly and would require international help!
