 Folks,
I wonder how, and if, the new president will address the issue of our women earmarked by Hassan & Co to the slave markets of Saudi Arabia.
Mr President,
We urge you to cancel that criminal deal!

Farmaajo must get someone who is a master of media communication.

Farmaajo is already using Twitter which gives him a direct access to Somalis, especially the young. He must use it diligently to inform and inspire.

You must have an open government and media communication is a vital tool in that endeavour.

One of the best elements of framing a debate and or tackling a big issue is by holding live press conferences.

It's fundamental that Farmaajo holds regular live press conferences because that will allow him to be open and communicate what he's trying to do, which a press statement doesn't do.

Somali leaders don't seem to understand the benefits of holding live press conferences.

Holding live press conferences are a good way for leaders to communicate where they stand on the big issues and it also allows them to put pressure on leaders to state clearly where they stand on the big issues.

These live conferences allow us to see what they really think and they can make slip ups too.

Imagine this situation: A live Press conference between Somali president/PM and a foreign leader/diplomat. A Somali journalist asks a question about a sensitive subject which the Somali government wants to talk about but the foreign leader/diplomat finds it difficult to talk about or to give a clear answer.

Somali journalist will push to try to get a good answer and if that fails, Somali leader could put more pressure by making a declaration and inviting the foreign to oppose a moral argument.

If nothing else, it will embarrass the foreign leader/diplomat.

Remember that any concession made must be highlighted by media to have an impact, so it is the job of the Somali government to make sure that they are highlighted.

The Somali government and Somali media hand in hand defending Somalia's interest. The government has power when it has the media's support and vice versa.

Previous Somali government's have tried to silence Somalia media, Farmaajo must set them free and tell them to work in the interest of the nation by doing expert reporting and investigations.

Somali government must allow Somali journalist to ask difficult question of all foreign entities in Somalia and they must be allowed to investigate them.

No more muzzling of Somalia's media, its time to go to war for your country.
