Meef.

Mr Nuunoow's is the Land with Acacia trees and Cactus, a proud patriot who shies away from recognition, standing day and night for fraternity, unity and ISKAA-WAX-U-QABSO.
His emblem is blue camel, green hoe and a golden ax.
One day, a will-be leader.

And by the way if objective criticism of Mr Aden adde is conducted, he may notcome out of smelling of roses. Hardly any politician does. For starters his slavish loyalty to Daroods led to Daroods dominating Hawiye in their own city for 30 years till we showed Hawiyes how to deal with uppity Darrods and they revolted in 1991 destroying their own city in the process. Arguably he also planted the seeds that will inevtibaly lead top Somaliland seceding when he failed to share power with the sentimental landers who handed over their country on a silver plate to his govt.

Thganks Mssrs Mashkur and Yusuf for your crtiique of my critique of the review. You know my benchmark for identifying whether a Somali writer is clannist or not? It is a simple test: If I cannot identify his clan, subclan and subsubclan in the first paragraph of his work, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. So far on HOL only two writers had succeeded in beating my test: Mr Kenadid and the inimitable Nuunow. So you aint foolin' no one gentlemn. You are as clannist as good ol me just less honest..

Cabdirazak H.Xuseen waxaa kaaga filan halkii lagu aasay ee uu u dardaarmay. Wax kasta oo kale iska ilow. Wakhtigan qablaada iyo nacaybku harreeyay Soomaalida ninka sheegay in lagu duugo Xamar isagoon qabiil ahaan u dhallan, kaasi ayaa waddani iyo geesi dhab ah.

 Dr Fiqi and Dr Wiif

Greetings to both of you. I am not sure if I read the same article as you both, because you are beating the bushes and not having a serious discussion on this wonderful writers observation.
My esteemed brother Goth always presents a deeply fascinating articles, and whilst a one point of view historically, it is simply soul enriching nevertheless, to say the least.
You on the other hand need a monkey to divide you on a balance scales your tribal gastronomy. Did you not see the dead nation in front of you,to just ask the right question of how to revive, rather than who or what happened historically.
Frankly, a baby would have done better than either of you. a big smile and no squabble.

 wiifgarow,

And that is why your leaders haven't proposed a "third" power share for the north for union, how does that make sense? If you so sure of what you just claimed of D & H not accepting a 1\3 for you, you would have put it on the table? I, unlike you, was of the opinion that your leaders are more principled and they really want out for good!

You really arenaive arent my Darood friend? Do you really believe the Hawiye/Darod southerner elites really want Somaliland back? Of course they dont! It will mean sharing power. 33% of the united Somalia in terms of population is Somalilander. They will demand the Presidency, PM and Speaker posts in rotation. This will mess up the Wallaweyn gravy train. That is why Somaliland is never going to return. Go on and move on

 wiifgarow,

If every Idoor had a price for loyalty like you Wiif, then there is hope for your clan to limb down from its fantasy of "own country!" I say: Let Somalia presidency, premiership, secretary of state and speakers of houses all be Idoor's! Anything for you to come home, short of this never, never to happen 'DIVORCE! But then again, Idoor is my old cousins, and that is what we do, eh!

May I also remind the two Samaroon lads singing the cheesey patriotic dirges for these Hawiye and Darod guys, that the appreciation was not reciprocated. Mr Abdille Osman gave Samroon one Minister. So did Abdirashid. So dir Rizaq. And the otherRashid and the iother rizaq aand the other Abdulle. All the way to today's Culusow. This lovefest is one sided

Africa’s First Democrats? Were they really "Democrats," or simply water-carriers for a colonial system? Democracy was not, still is not, indigenous to Somalia or the whole of the African continent. What this men were doing was colonial legacy, even though I personally would agree that democracy is the best system! Had the colonizers of Somalia were "communists," these men would have adopted Communism, period! This book itself is nothing more than singing a soothing song to Westerners, for I don't see it speaking to average Somalis! In addition, one should observe how Somali leaders of that time have made naked clan politics the wheels and steering of that democracy by campaigning with slogans of " yaa reer hebal aay." Somalis always explain anything foreigner by their own tried and tested clan-system, which was why then Somali-democracy quickly became a Trojan horse for clan politics!

"...appreciated if we were spared the faux nationalism.."

Nothing against the gentlemen in which the book is about but sadly this is not an objective review of literary work but more a fawning to big up a cousin's work. Good. I would do too (yes that is who we all really are Mr Goth as you very well know..)that but I would've appreciated if the sanctimony about the faux nationalism portrayed by the reviewer. As for great democrats I would choose my former President HE Riyale Kahin over both the gentlemn in question. But then Pres Riyale is my Dir cousin. So there
