Food Security Field Analyst – Laas Caanood, Nortwest Somalia
The EC funded and FAO Managed Food Security Analysis Unit for Somalia ( FSAU) seeks to hire a Somali national consultant who will be based in Laas Caanood with the core responsibilities of a Food Security Field Analyst for Buuhoodle, Laas Caanood, Taleex and Xuddun Districts in Northwest Somalia. FSAU seeks to provide evidence-based analysis of Somali food, nutrition and livelihood security, through the collection of information, analysis, production and dissemination of monthly and periodical reports.
FSAU strives for accuracy, neutrality and impartiality in all its work
The job is based in Laas Caanood Town , with regular monthly travel to Buuhoodle, Laas Caanood, Taleex and Xuddun Districts . The position is a local national hire and is available immediately on a 3 month initial consultancy basis, renewable on an 11 month consultancy basis.
Main duties include: collection, critical analysis and timely delivery of monthly reports on food security information and participation in food security surveys and assessments in the areas of responsibility. Applicants are required to have a university degree in agriculture, livestock, economics, or geography; knowledge and experience with different methods of information collection and analysis; ability to communicate well in English and Somali; ability to be impartial in the performance of one’s duties, knowledge of the area; computer literacy and familiarity with the internet and email communication
